Custom Fabrication of Samurai Swords for the Martial Arts Industry
Jay Gee Wood is known for manufacturing a wide range of wooden components that are recognizable and used every day, but we also craft unique, specialized, and artisan-level products. This was well exemplified when a customer in the martial arts industry required custom-assembled practice samurai swords. These are difficult and labor intensive to manufacture, requiring inspection for each piece to ensure dimensional correctness and finishing specification. Using military impact grade hickory lumber, we employed our rough mill, machining, assembly, and surface finishing capabilities to manufacture these swords. Our specialists studied a customer-provided sample, created a drawing, and fabricated a sample for approval. It measured 43" in length, 1" in width, and 1-1/2" in height, with a clear acrylic dead flat finish. All of the meticulous specifications for this project were met, and we now manufacture 300 of these practice swords per production run and deliver them to clients across the U.S.A.
